This Is The ‘Inception’ Of Comedy Sketches

There’s this phenomenon in internet entertainment nowadays — there’s the “thing” that’s being expressed/exploited, and then there’s the darker, ever-looming reality bubbling barely below the surface; that this is really just attempt to ruthlessly mine your beliefs/insecurities for attention which in turn creates notoriety/profit, while providing no greater reward other than taking up your time.
Aspects of this are tackled rather excellently in Bo Burnham’s Repeat Stuff, and more recently, in this funny comedy sketch from Winston Comedy about a comedy sketch — which is really about the “aimlessness of the information highway” and the ever-looming void. Certainly worth a watch, if not for the impeccably well dressed old man.
With that, enjoy the remainder of your day.
