The woman apparently had received an inheritance, stashed it away in her desk, and totally forgot about it. Yeah, I’d forget about $98,000 in cash too. What? No.

Rabbi Noah Muroff is currently celebrating being one of the best humans ever after returning $98,000 he found in a desk he bought online.
Muroff and his wife purchased a desk from a woman on Craigslist in New Haven, Connecticut for $150. After bringing the desk home the couple decided to take it apart when it wouldn’t fit through their office door, discovering tons of plastic bags filled with hundred dollar bills inside. Muroff laid all the bills out and counted each of them, realizing they had $98,000 in cash in front of them. Instead of taking the money for themselves and heading off to Vegas or buying a nice steak dinner, the couple returned every dollar of it.
“My wife and I both knew immediately that we would return it,” Muroff told WTNH. When I was picking up the desk, the lady, who wasn’t Jewish, told me that she had bought the desk at Staples and put it together herself. We knew the money was hers and she was speechless when we called her to tell her we had found it.”
The woman apparently had received an inheritance, stashed it away in her desk, and totally forgot about it. Yeah, I’d forget about $98,000 in cash too. What? No. Muroff and his family received a cash reward for returning the inheritance, although he didn’t reveal how much. The woman also included a handwritten thank you note:
I can not thank you enough for your honesty and integrity. I do not think there are too many people in this world that would have done what you did by calling me. I do like to believe that there are still good people left in this crazy world we live in. You certainly are one of them. I work in the non-profit sector and I see people with hardships and struggles every day. So I truly believe that no good deed goes un-noticed. Please accept this gift for you & your family along with my thanks. I will be forever grateful.
Major kudos to Muroff and his wife for being incredibly awesome and restoring all faith in humanity.
