I Don’t Know What Love Means But I Know I’m Better Because You’re Here

I think there’s a moment where they enter your life and there’s a before and after in you.

I don’t know what I love you means but I do know when you’re happy I am. I know when something is wrong or upsetting you or you’re having a bad day, I just want to make it better. I know my mood significantly changes because of yours. Every worry. Every fear. Every doubt. I just want to make it go away. I want to make you as happy as I can, even if I don’t know how to do that sometimes. I’ll keep trying.

I don’t know what I love you means but I know I’m a better person when you’re around. I’m the person I want to be when you’re in my life and you motivate me to keep up with you. I know you believe in the things I do, as much as I believe in you.

You continue to amaze me and impress me time and time again.

I know when I hear from you or see you that’s the best part of any day. And when we part ways, it’s the saddest.

I don’t know what I love you means but I know I’d rather spend 5 minutes with you if that’s all I get than hours with anyone else.

I don’t know what I love you means but I know I’d do anything you’d ask of me because I know you’d do the same.

If ever I were in trouble I know with confidence you’d be there because you have been in the past.

I don’t know what love means but I know if anything were to ever happen to you, I wouldn’t be okay. Whether it’s sickness or an injury or if something horrible came to be, I’d do anything to try and save you because in a way without even trying you came into my life and saved me.

I don’t know what I love you means but I know I’d make sacrifices if I had to. I’d make decisions that would benefit both of us. I’d take your best interest at heart. I’d alter any dreams I had and try and make it work for us because greater than any dream I can achieve alone, the best thing that could happen to me includes you.

So no, I can’t give you a definition of what I love you means. But if I were to try, I think it’s like being in a crowded room and no matter how many people are around you, you only see one.

It’s a single person defining a standard and expectation of what you look for in a significant other.

But more than that, I think there’s a moment where they enter your life and there’s a before and after in you.

I think it’s that moment where you stop being selfish and suddenly you’re thinking about someone else’s well-being. It’s like having this plan and all these dreams and this person either shakes it up a bit or fits right in, helping you to amount to the person you always wanted to be but because of them you’re even better.

It’s a never ending support system. It’s someone always in your corner. It’s someone having your back and standing up for you no matter who it is against. But more than anything it’s a team.

So I may not know what I love you means exactly but I do know you make me happier than anyone I’ve ever met and that’s enough for me. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
