Why The Key To Being Successful Is Ignoring 99% Of What You Hear

Watch happiness and success grow in your life as you listen more to supportive, trusted people.

The ability to listen is coveted in our attention-deficit society, yet the happiest and most successful people ignore 99% of what they hear.

They ignore “The Noise”: social media, news, television, politics, doubters, and anything else that can take their focus away from their goals.

“The Noise” is like an ocean current that can pull you completely off your path if you engulf yourself in it instead of focusing on your goals and what you want.

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” Jim Rohn

Most people unintentionally get pulled into “The Noise” and allow it to dictate their entire lives. They listen to the news every day and immerse themselves in drama that usually has nothing to do with them. They forget that they can achieve goals and live a life they love because they’re focused on everything except themselves.

So who do the most happy and successful people listen to?

They listen to two groups of people:

1) people who have already succeeded

2) a small group of genuine, supportive, and trusted associates who are encouraged and willing to give their honest thoughts and provide constructive criticism

They gather information from these groups, but in the end, they listen to themselves and make their own choices. They are intentional about who they allow to influence them instead of unintentionally letting “The Noise” guide their actions.

There’s noise all around you and it won’t ever stop. Know your goals and then ignore 99% of what you hear. Live with intention or be taken away by the oceanic “Noise”. Watch happiness and success grow in your life as you listen more to supportive, trusted people, as well as those who have achieved success in the area you want to succeed in. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
