Psalm 103:12

God’s forgiveness has an infinite nature—just like the East and West never meet, the way God forgives us represents complete and permanent removal of all sins, rebellions, or wrongdoings.

When we think about forgiveness in the human realm, the way we forgive others is often to remove the anger to move on, without ever truly forgetting how others wronged us—we always remember, deep in our hearts. But divine forgiveness goes a step beyond that—it is a level of absolution where our sins are fully removed, rather than just covered, with no remnants of it lasting. There is a finality and completeness when God forgives us that human forgiveness cannot match.

When we know that our sins are fully removed and infinitely distant, we allow ourselves to experience a level of freedom that once felt unattainable—our self-perception shifts, our attachment to the past falls to the wayside, and the way we forgive others in our personal relationships comes from a deeper state of grace. As David declares, ‘As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.’ We no longer just feel forgiven, we are forgiven—completely, permanently, and without limit.
