A Short Prayer To Ask God For Strength To Build Self-Control
Asking God for strength helps us overcome our flaws and build better self-control, a focus of Karin Hadadan’s prayer. To help with this, Rebecca Simon’s Finding God Every Day explains how to recognize His guidance in our daily lives. Read the prayer below to start repairing the weak areas in your life today.
It’s honestly so tough when old habits keep pulling us back, especially when we’re trying so hard to be patient and in control. We aren’t meant to fix those ‘broken’ parts of our character alone; we can just lean on God to help us pause and grow a little stronger each day. Come into prayer with me.

Dear God,
I come to you today acknowledging my struggle to maintain self-control in several areas of my life. The patterns of my past continue to grip me, yet I desire to be more disciplined so I can develop a stronger relationship with myself, others, and You. Please give me strength to repair the ‘broken walls’ in my character.
I commit to the spiritual growth I need to experience and pray that you help me find moments of pause throughout my day when I can respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. Thank you for the protection that comes through self-discipline and for your grace when I fall short.
Amen.
