A “Cleanse My Heart” Prayer

By

Trusting God with our shortcomings is the first step toward the fresh start shared by Karin Hadadan. Complementing this prayer, Rebecca Simon’s Finding God Every Day helps us stay spiritually awake, ensuring that every day is lived in the light of His ongoing restoration.

When we keep our mistakes hidden and try to push them aside, it can quietly weigh on our hearts more than we expect. Know that God welcomes our honesty, and bringing everything to Him is often the first step toward finding peace and a fresh start. Take a moment to pray with me.

Dear God,

I want to confess all of the sins I’ve made recently. The ones I was scared to acknowledge, assuming that by suppressing them, they might not exist. But truthfully, I haven’t been acting from a place of pure light. My bitterness, anger, and fears have taken hold of me, leading me to act in ways divergent from your holy character.

Allow God to restore your heart today. See how in this comforting read.

So today, I acknowledge these failings before you, knowing you are faithful and just. Forgive me for all that I have done intentionally, and for the ways I’ve unknowingly missed your mark. Thank you for being a safe space where I can confess with complete honesty. I receive your promise of forgiveness and purification, trusting that you are cleansing me from all unrighteousness.

Amen.
