Self-love. It’s a hard concept to grasp when there’s too much going on in your head. It’s easy to simply turn to self-hate when you can’t seem to do anything right. Why should you spend your limited energy on an emotion that contradicts your very mental condition? When everything you feel hurts in places it doesn’t have to. Where you find yourself stuck in the only place you call home. The Darkness. It’s a place where you can create your own light and watch your shrinking being cast a very large shadow on the wall—your love for yourself.

Love yourself for waking up every morning.

Love yourself for making it through another sunrise. For simply having a shower to wash off the past that no longer matters. Today is a new day to survive your demons. Today is a new day to fight for the things that matter to you. May it be art, a special someone, a project that you’ve been pouring your soul into and every little thing that you do that is good for your mental health. These things need to be congratulated on a daily basis.

Love yourself for reaching out for support when you’re feeling hopeless.

It is when you’re truly alone that you truly suffer. You as a human being needs to express your unpleasant feelings to the people who truly care for you. So that you can remind yourself that you are loved, that you are enough and that you are not alone in your despair.

Love yourself for trying your best to get through it.

At the end of the day, that’s all you can really do. Just keep at it and hope that it gets better. Just keep on moving forward no matter what happens. Just keep on living your life. TC mark
