You fall apart and then somehow, you have to piece yourself back together. 

Because being with you was so easy when it was, and impossible when it wasn’t. It was always stopping and starting, trying to make something out of nothing. 

Let me be very clear about one thing. You, my friend, were a mistake. And a very common one at that. 

I can’t go back to you now. I can’t change what already happened and I’ll never be anything but grateful for every moment we had together. 

I couldn’t be who you wanted me to be.

I can’t change what happened in the past, before me. I can’t take away your hurt just because I want to.

I never planned on giving my heart to someone. Not quite this soon. But then you came around, and turned everything upside down. 

I learned it by waiting for you.

I thought that we were going to be forever. Or at the very least, I hoped that we would last a little longer than this. 

Love feels like comfort, love feels like I don’t have to say sorry when there is nothing to blame myself for.

We both know that it wasn’t supposed to end like this. Without any clarity. Without anything left to fight for. I deserved more than that and so did you. 

Memories can’t just fade, not when it comes to matters of the heart.
