How The Possibility Of Failure Is Ruining Your Life

You are going to fail at things. It’s a terrible bubble to burst, but it’s the honest truth.

Life is full of risks. Some are calculated, others are not.

But one of the biggest mistakes you can make is living your life with the possibility of failure at the forefront of your mind.

You are going to fail at things. It’s a terrible bubble to burst, but it’s the honest truth. There are things in life that you will inevitably fail at. Some you have control over, others not so much.

The sooner you realize failure is inevitable, the sooner you can start living with that fact tucked away in the deepest corners of your mind. The sooner you can start living your life, regardless. The sooner you can make decisions for yourself without fear.

Because if you’re constantly thinking about failure, two things are going to happen.

First, you’ll remain the same. The person you are now is awesome but you were put on this Earth to grow, to learn, to experience new things, to become fulfilled. If you make decisions with the notion of failure close by, you won’t grow. You won’t push yourself, you won’t face challenges, you won’t’ do what your heart wants because you know there is a possibility, no matter how small, that it won’t work out.

Second, you’ll be full of regret. At this moment, it’s easy to look at things and convince yourself it won’t work out. But what if it does? What if it’s the beginning of the biggest adventure of your life, but you’re too caught up in the possibility of failure to let it become something. The more “what ifs” you allow yourself to create, the more regret you’re inviting into your life. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than looking back at the past and thinking, I wonder what things would be like if I went for it.

Failure is a possibility, but there are dozens of other possibilities that exist behind it.

So, take the job offer, move to a new city, go on that blind date your friend has been telling you about for weeks. Because even if you don’t think it’s going to work, there’s a chance that it will. There’s a chance it could be the best decision you’ve ever made. There’s a chance this is the break you’ve been waiting for.

The only thing holding you back, is you.
