Russia Already Shot Down a Passenger Jet Over Europe Once, Killing All 298 People on MH17

A drone discovered at a German airport this week has renewed fears that Russia could strike a civilian aircraft over Europe again — and a security expert says only a failed trigger stopped it from happening.

A rigged drone was found sitting next to Ukrainian cargo planes at a German airport this week, its explosive already wired to a detonator. Minutes later, a second object slammed into an incoming plane.

A security expert says the only thing that failed was the trigger. The same expert points to Russia’s downing of MH17, which killed all 298 people aboard, as evidence that such an attack could happen again.
