Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian give us the breather we all need from coronavirus driven media to just some good ole fashion celebrity gossip. As we all know before the world officially ended, earlier this year Taylor Swift’s Netflix documentary debuted Miss Americana. Miss Americana vulnerably showcased everything Taylor Swift was really going through, including the backlash of her high profile feud with Kanye West. In the middle of a world-wide pandemic, there is some justice given to the honest.
The infamous hashtag that brought Taylor into self-isolation for almost a year (long before quarantine was even a thing), the “Taylor Swift Is Over Party” has now turned into “Taylor Told The Truth.”
Now enough character development, let’s get the story straight here. We all know the 2016 headlines of the video leaked by Kim Kardashian of Kanye and Taylor’s conversation about his song “Famous.” What we just discovered is sneaky Kim picked and chose a few clips of Kanye and Taylor’s conversation. Aka: she chose her narrative and never leaked the full conversation.
The full video actually shows Kanye desperately asking Taylor to promote his song on Twitter. Taylor politely declined his pathetic promotional plea.
Kanye West: “So my next single, I wanted you to tweet it. It’s a good Friday to drop it. It’s a good Friday song. So that’s why I’m calling you, that I wanted you to put the song out.”
Taylor Swift: “You know, the thing about me is, anything that I do becomes like a feminist think-piece. And if I launch it, they’re going to be like, wow, like, they’ll just turn into something that… I think if I launch it, honestly, I think it’ll be less cool. Because I think if I launch it, it adds this level of criticism. Because having that many followers and having that many eyeballs on me right now, people are just looking for me to do something dumb or stupid or lame. And I don’t know. I kind of feel like people would try to make it negative if it came from me, do you know what I mean? I think I’m very self-aware about where I am, and I feel like right now I’m like this close to overexposure.”

Before Taylor politely declines Kanye’s Twitter request she does ask him a direct question about the lyrics.
*
Kanye West: “Okay. All right. Wait a second, you sound sad.”
Taylor Swift: “Well, is it gonna be mean?”
Kanye West: “So it says “To all my Southside [N-word] that know me best, I feel like Taylor Swift might owe me sex.”
Taylor Swift: “[Laughs, relieved.] That’s not mean”
Taylor Swift: “Oh my God! I mean, I need to think about it, because you know, when you hear something for the first time, you just need to think about it. Because it is absolutely crazy. I’m glad it’s not mean, though. It doesn’t feel mean. But oh my God, the buildup you gave it, I thought it was going to be like, “That stupid, dumb bitch.” But it’s not. So I don’t know. I mean, the launch thing, I think it would be kind of confusing to people. But I definitely like… I definitely think that when I’m asked about it, of course I’ll be like, “Yeah, I love that. I think it’s hilarious.” But, um, I need to think about it.”

Taylor clearly indicated that she is relieved that the lyrics are not mean and she is not being called“that stupid, dumb bitch.” Yet despite Taylor’s direct response, Kanye still manages to let this lyric slip into the “Famous” song “I made that BITCH famous.”
The whole debate was whether or not Taylor knew about the song she always knew. However, Taylor’s problem was that particular word “bitch” which was not approved by her. To make a long story short everyone took Kim and Kanye’s side and painted Taylor as a snake. Flash forward to 2020, the full video has been released of Kanye and Taylor’s conversation. Kim Kardashian has given us the gossip gift we have needed to get our minds off coronavirus.

Kim Kardashian’s full twitter response:
“.@taylorswift13 has chosen to reignite an old exchange – that at this point in time feels very self-serving given the suffering millions of real victims are facing right now,” she wrote. “I didn’t feel the need to comment a few days ago, and I’m actually really embarrassed and mortified to be doing it right now, but because she continues to speak on it, I feel like I’m left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying.
“To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you see all that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘b*tch’ was used without her permission.
“At the time when they spoke the song had not been fully written yet, but as everyone can see in the video, she manipulated the truth of their actual conversation in her statement when her team said she ‘declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.’ The lie was never about the word b*tch, It was always whether there was a call or not and the tone of the conversation.
“I never edited the footage (another lie) – I only posted a few clips on Snapchat to make my point and the full video that recently leaked doesn’t change the narrative.”
Taylor Swift’s publicist snapped back at Kim.

“I’m Taylor’s publicist and this is my UNEDITED original statement. Btw, when you take parts out, that’s editing. P.S. who did you guys piss off to leak that video?”

Now I know what you are thinking. With everything that is going on in the world right now, does this really matter? And Taylor agrees with you it does not…
Taylor so eloquently responded to the video release as so.
“Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans, through hell the last 4 years)… SWIPE UP to see what really matters.” “The World Health Organization and Feeding America are some of the organizations I’ve been donating to. If you have the ability to, please join me in donating during this crisis.”
While Taylor is attempting to take the high road, Kim continues to be childish and still points the finger (on a fight that was never hers, to begin with) stating Taylor “has chosen to reignite an old exchange.” Taylor never chose any of this….she is simply responding to a question. Taylor’s statement was truthful. She was honest and addressed her pain, yet it is also obvious that to Taylor the past is in the past. She is over it, she shifted the focus from her scandal to raise money for charity. Taylor did not need to rub it in Kim and Kanye’s face and say HAHA, however she politely and rightfully so addressed the justice of her narrative.
We saw in Taylor’s Netflix documentary Miss Americana the great impact this “Famous” song lyric scandal had on Taylor’s life. With all the real tragedies that are occurring with coronavirus, this truly seems just for lack of a better word, silly.
Yet we shouldn’t forget the power of our words. They say sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me. However, we shouldn’t forget the power of bullying. We repress the things we dare not to say out loud. We forget the power we all have on each other’s mental health. Taylor stated in the documentary, “I wanted to disappear. No one physically saw me for a year, and that is what I thought they wanted.”
Kim also fired back stating, “This will be the last time I speak on this because honestly, nobody cares. Sorry to bore you all with this. I know you are all dealing with more serious and important matters.”
To state the obvious in the grand scheme of everything that is going on…this is minor news. However just because the timing was on your side Kim, does not mean that what was done years ago was not hurtful. While Kim can play the “Regina George Mean Girls” act all she wants with her “honestly nobody cares” statement, she should try to be the bigger person for once. Kim, you are nearly 40 years old, the response we were looking for was: “I am sorry.”
Although it does seem karma is finally keeping up with this Kardashian, Kim’s Instagram account was filled with hateful comments spreading faster than coronavirus. Speaking of coronavirus (you know how Taylor Swift used this drama to fuel donations for the World Health Organization and Feeding America)… well our girl Kim K so graciously (insert eye roll) offered a mere 20% of her own profits from her underwear line Skims as a donation. The Instagram comments read like so:
https://www.instagram.com/p/B-FQJspg_de/
“It’s really irresponsible to use your celebrity platform to capitalize off of a global pandemic. You should be ashamed of your vanity and greed.”
“If millions are suffering why don’t you just donate your own money?”
“I wish that no man would ever disrespect or humiliate your daughters the way your husband are doing. He is every inch of what not a man should be.”
Many fans threatened to unfollow Kim and her entire family and report her Instagram account. The main theme of the thousands of bitter comments was that Kim’s true colors have shown. For someone who “honestly doesn’t care” she went on a rant for a few IG stories. The true heartbreaking factor of this celebrity feud nonsense story is during this world-wide pandemic of COVID-19 there will sadly be people like Kim Kardashian who will come out of the other side unchanged.
