One 8-year-old in Bloomington decided to pick up the phone and call the editor Sunday. We had replaced 13 comics in the color-comic section, and some were his favorites. It had ruined his day.
The kid starts off agitated but reasonable but slowly becomes more and more irrational, offering to give the Herald Times “all his money back” before telling the paper that they’re “shitholes.” This kid moves right through most stages of grief on this recording. One can only hope he’s come to accept that his comics are gone now but Herald editor-in-chief Bob Zaltsberg says that when he called the boy back he “was still pretty mad.”
