Black Man Pulled Over Because He Made ‘Eye Contact’ With A Cop
John Felton and his brother were trying to get through downtown Dayton for a birthday party when they noticed a police car following them.
“My brother had his seat belt on and everything and I was like, ‘This cop is following me, I don’t know why he’s following me I’m going to make sure I don’t do anything to make him pull me over.'” Felton told ABC 22.
After being tailed for quite some time, the police car finally activated its sirens and pulled them over. The cop told Felton that he didn’t activate his turn signal “soon enough” before a turn. Felton questioned the officer as to why he was being followed in the first place:
Felton: I’m doing nothing, because I have Michigan plates, other than that why are you trailing me?
Officer: You made direct eye contact with me and held onto it when I was passing you.
Felton: What! I didn’t even see you!
Officer: I am not going to argue with you, sir. I’ll just scan your license and give you a citation for the violation and you could take it to court.
Listen to the audio of the conversation below:
The Dayton Police Department has not as of yet returned calls from media outlets, but they did issue the following press release:
The statement has not quelled the outrage surrounding this bizarre interaction, however:
@DaytonPolice Unreal. Making eye contact gets you pulled over in Dayton? I'll try to avoid ever visiting your city.

I guess we will see if anything comes of this “conversation” between Felton and the police officer.
