They probably spent a lot of time looking for love in the wrong places. Maybe they’re looking for all of the things they didn’t get at home. Maybe they’re looking for someone to just notice they’re there.

We’re all just people, and our purpose is connection. Not every connection stands the test of time. But that’s not to say they didn’t mean something.

The more life you breathe into the things that make you happy, the more you’ll find those kinds of things will head your way.

In three months I will never be responsible for homework. Ever. Again. No one is going to ask me to write a 10-12 page paper discussing the themes of isolation in Romeo & Juliet. Or to read 37 pages on Faulkner.

And although there is always beauty in the breakdown, at the end of it all, I would rather be stumbling in the light, than walking solidly in the dark.

You gave away more than you could spare and more than they asked for, but somehow it seemed appropriate to give them every square inch of yourself. The idea of being someone’s something left you reeling and breathless.

Embrace your demons. Not because they deserve your kindness, but because it is the only way to kill them.

Just know that the first few nights you spend together, they really will want to cuddle up close to you and burrow themselves in your arms. They’ll want to, more than anything. But they also won’t want to seem needy.

You aren’t going to feel on top of things all the time. But it’s just the human nature of things. And this song is there to remind you that there is nothing wrong with that.

You don’t ask how you ended up with a string connecting your heart to theirs. Those are uncharted waters, and they’re way too deep and way too treacherous.
