Maybe There’s No Such Thing As The ‘Right’ Path

Because, in the end, what matters above everything else is whether or not you are satisfied your own self; the self within which cannot and should not be silenced.

Maybe there isn’t such a thing as the ‘right’ path in life. Maybe some people simply cannot and should not be forced to color within the lines. Whenever you might feel judgement or doubt just remember that ordinary people have always been afraid of what they cannot understand.

Maybe a ‘right’ path will not get you where you truly need to be. Maybe you’ll waste years before you come to realize this. Walking away from the beaten path will feel like the hardest thing you ever had to do in your life; but it will most certainly set you free. Because, in the end, what matters above everything else is whether or not you are satisfied your own self; the self within which cannot and should not be silenced.

If there ever was a more meaningful time to start living for yourself and yourself only, that time would be now. As the world grows more divided by each and every day, as our future seems more vulnerable than ever before and as you grow older with each passing minute, the moment has come for you to stop chasing dreams which weren’t yours to begin with.

There is so much freedom within straying away from the ‘right’ path. We were never supposed to chase the same dreams and same careers and have the same milestones in our lives. Sadly, we’ve become so used to comparing ourselves to others and to living lives that don’t make us happy. Most of the time, we do this out of sheer fear; fear of speaking up, fear of failure or fear of even trying.

Trust me when I say that following a ‘right’ path in your life will most definitely not bring you happiness and peace of mind. I have learned this the hard way and I am still struggling to accept it.

So, stop looking for sympathy and understanding from others because it’s never going to be enough. Stop following the ‘right’ path whether that means finally doing what makes your soul jump for joy or working up the courage to quit the career your family has been pushing onto you ever since you were a kid. Create whatever your heart desires. Write whatever makes you smile. Feed your soul and mind with whatever they’re craving. Love whoever makes your heart skip a beat. Do whatever you think it’s best for you. Choose whichever life makes you happy at the end of the day. Trust yourself and leave out all the rest.

Stop following what you think is the ‘right’ path and start walking down the path that feels ‘right’.

Because, when it’s all said and done, you’re going to have to face your regrets and mistakes. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could look back and be proud of yourself for leading an authentic life?
