Date someone who enhances your life. Someone who makes you excited to get up in the morning, excited to come home from work, excited to go out on the weekends.

You don’t always brag about him. But that doesn’t mean you don’t love him. That doesn’t mean that you don’t appreciate him.

Self-respect means walking away from anyone who makes you feel like you aren’t good enough, like you are only a burden, like you are inherently worthless — because you know that’s not the truth.

Stay single until you find someone who will kiss you beneath the fireworks after Tinker Bell flies overhead. Someone who will make Disney feel even more magical than it usually does.

Date the boy who wants the world to know that you’re together. Who invites you to holiday parties so you can meet his cousins. Who holds your hand during dates so everyone knows you’re a couple. Who brags about you to all of his friends because he can’t believe he got so lucky. 

She will send the most adorable texts. It might take her a few tries to get her words right, but once she does, you’ll be complimenting her sweetness. You’ll be screenshotting the conversation to save forever, to look at when you’re feeling low.

You never want to love again. You never want to care again. Because you never want to get hurt again.

If your dog starts staring at an empty space or barking at ‘nothing,’ be careful.

Being intelligent is more than getting a high SAT score and attending an Ivy League college. It’s more than being able to list out all of the state capitals and using six-syllable words.

Finding someone to fall asleep beside, someone to grab dinner with, someone to text whenever you’re feeling sad, is always nice — but it isn’t going to magically make your life complete. It isn’t going to fill that empty void that’s been drilled into your soul.
