When You Cut Someone Out Of Your World, You Look Like The Bad Guy
There are going to be people against you, people who are not on your side, people who look at you with disgust because they cannot believe you are acting so heartless.
It takes a lot of strength to cut someone out of your world. You are not only saying goodbye to a person. You are saying goodbye to all of your inside jokes, to all of your shared friends, to all of the things you thought you would be doing together in the future.
It takes a lot of guts to walk away from someone toxic — and it is even worse when no one is around to encourage you. When everyone looks at you like you are the bad guy, like you are being unreasonable, like you should really grow up and act more mature because what you are doing is childish.
When you cut someone out of your world, there are going to be people against you, people who are not on your side, people who look at you with disgust because they cannot believe you are acting so heartless.
These people are going to guilt trip you. They are going to make you feel like you did something horrible, like you made an unacceptable mistake, like you should change your mind. They are not going to see the situation from your point of view. They are going to take a stance and stick to it. They are going to make you feel worse about yourself.
When you cut someone out of your world, you should be congratulated. You should be complimented on how strong you are and how amazing it is that you finally stuck up for yourself and decided that you deserved more than what you were given.
But most of the time, that is not going to happen. People will call you selfish. They will accuse you of using someone for money or leading someone on or only caring about yourself. They will act like you didn’t have the right to behave the way you did. They will act like they know best and like they never would have made the same choices you made.
You can try to tell these people stories about what really happened, you can try to explain why you had no choice except to leave, but they will either call you a liar or an exaggerator. They will act like you are making a big deal out of nothing.
They will say things like, “This person did so much for you and this is how you repay them?” They will act like you owe the person something, even though you are allowed to walk away at any time. You are allowed to leave.
Cutting someone out of your world is not going to be easy — and not just because you are losing someone that you once loved. You might also lose friends. You might lose respect. You might lose your temper. But it is something you have to do for yourself. For your own sanity. For the sake of your future happiness.
You deserve to walk away from a bad situation. Do not let anyone stop you. If they try, then you can cut them out of your world too.
