You Broke My Heart So You Don’t Get A Second Chance

I don't care how many times you tell me you're sorry, because no amount of halfhearted apologies can make up for what you put me through.

I don’t care if you call me heartless for refusing to give you another chance — because I already gave you enough chances. I already handed my heart to you and you broke it. I’m not going to let that happen again. I’m not going to give you a chance to repeat history.

I don’t care how many times you tell me you’re sorry, because no amount of halfhearted apologies can make up for what you put me through.

I don’t care how much effort you put into trying to win me back. You should have been putting in effort while we were together. You should have been putting in effort to keep our relationship strong. It’s too late now. You waited too long.

I don’t care if you promise that things will be different this time. If you really cared about me, then you wouldn’t have hurt me in the first place. You wouldn’t have been willing to put me through hell. If you actually loved me, then there wouldn’t be anything for you to make up for at all.

I don’t care if you regret the way that you treated me and hate yourself for putting me through so much pain. To be honest, you should feel that way. I’m sure it still doesn’t compare to the hurt that I had to endure when you walked away.

I don’t care if you can’t stop thinking about me. If you don’t want to date any other girls, except for me. If you call me the one who got away and talk about how you want to spend forever with me. You had your chance and you blew it. That’s on you.

I don’t care if you show up at my front door with flowers. If you buy me the most expensive piece of jewelry your paycheck can afford. You can’t buy back my love. My love has to be earned — and you certainly haven’t earned it.

I don’t care if you call me over the phone, crying your eyes out — because instead of spending all of this time regretting what you’ve done and trying to put our broken pieces back together, you should have simply thought before you acted. You should have taken two seconds to realize that you were making a mistake. You should have prevented this from happening in the first place.

I don’t care if you regret our relationship ending, because I’m happy that it happened. I’m thankful I know who you really are so I never make the mistake of trusting you again.

I don’t care if you want me back. I don’t even care if there’s a part of me that wants you back, because we’re never going to be together again. My standards are too high to put up with someone like you.

When we were together, I never would have let you go. But now that you’ve messed up, now that you’ve ruined us, I’m ready to let go. I’m ready to say goodbye to you for good. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
