Angelina Jolie Lists Her Estate for Sale as She Prepares to Leave the United States After Her Twins Turn Eighteen

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi moved to the Cotswolds in the UK after the 2024 election. Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland in early 2025. And now Angelina Jolie is leaving the United States, at least to many reports, and she 100% has her mansion up for sale.

Her/mansion estate sits at 2000 DeMille Drive in the gated Laughlin Park enclave of Los Feliz. The 11,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts main house, designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett around 1913, has 6 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and nearly two acres of grounds. Cecil B. DeMille bought it in 1916 and expanded it in 1920 by acquiring the neighboring former Chaplin residence and connecting the two. The DeMille family kept the property until 1988. The grounds include a guest house, pool house, fitness studio, tea house, and treehouse, with views of the Hollywood Hills and the Griffith Observatory.

Jolie bought the estate in 2017 for $24.5 million. In early May 2026 she listed it for sale at $29.85 million and has begun showing the property to pre-qualified buyers. The timing aligns with her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turning 18 on July 12, after which custody arrangements no longer require her to maintain primary residence in California. She has long said she never intended to live in Los Angeles full-time and remained there only because of those arrangements.

She has not said where she is going. She has a New York apartment that she has described as a temporary stop for the kids. She holds Cambodian citizenship, granted in 2005 by King Norodom Sihamoni in recognition of her conservation work. After adopting Maddox from Cambodia in 2002, she purchased a traditional rural home there the following year and acquired roughly 148,000 acres of surrounding land in the Samlout district.

Through the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which she founded in 2003 and named for her son, she helped convert heavily mined and poached areas into a wildlife preserve. The project employed former poachers as park rangers, providing them steady income to protect species including Asian black bears and Indochinese tigers. In February 2025 she described Cambodia as “home” in her heart.

In September 2025, speaking at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in Spain, she said: “I love my country, but I don’t, at this time, recognize my country. Anything, anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms, I think, is very dangerous. My family is international. My life, my worldview, is equal and united.”
