19 People Talk About Their Ridiculously Incompetent Coworkers And Wonder How The Hell They Were Hired
12. Teacher here. For my first four years there was a chem/physics teacher that somehow kept her job despite having low test scores, did crap in her class (I walked in during my off to borrow a tool and she was asleep at her desk with a magazine in her hand), dressed in sweatpants nearly every day, wore all kinds of facial piercings, kept the lights off, the shades drawn and the doors closed and covered constantly and the kids hated her.
My formers who got stuck in her physics class after my chemistry class came to be nearly every day in the first few weeks begging me to teach physics so they could have me again. I felt horrible saying i’m not qualified and seeing the spark and drive I ignited in them be brutally and carelessly extinguished by a lazy moron who kept her job because she was like a combination of Milton and Peter from Office space; wasn’t noticed and did just enough to not get fired.
She finally “retired” last year after she and her girlfriend were caught fingering each other during an assembly. While sitting with the kids. And an admin standing in the aisle next to them. Eight years and well over 1500 kids screwed up.

13. Worked at a call center where we sent out products when our customers ordered them from our warehouse.
We’re going to call her “Sarah”. She was about 55-years old and was chatting (as always) to her customer about how taking Xanax helped her relax as she was prescribed to them. She recommended them and SENT HIM A COUPLE with one of his purchase orders “to try” in a Polaroid film canister inside one of the company boxes just saran wrapped to his normal pallet. This was 2007/2008-ish and the rest of us being in our early 20s, were like “WTF?”
He began asking for more because he liked them so much and she started selling her excess ones to him every month and sending them with his order and he was ADDICTED. She would occasionally throw in some of her muscle relaxers for his wife’s back pain too and enjoyed the extra cash justifying it that she was “helping” him because his doctors were stiffs and wouldn’t prescribe them though they both agreed he needed them.
It was drug dealing. She didn’t know it, he didn’t know it, but the boss did. They found one of them when shipping got curious and asked her and she argued that she should be able to send anything of her own to her customers with their package since it didn’t add anything in shipping going on their pallet, etc; and was hers to give and regardless how many times they explained it, she had no idea why it was wrong and complained to everyone (right in front of the boss) how management were “assholes” and THEY were the reason she might lose a customer by cutting him off from something “harmless” even when told it was illegal.
She received a warning is still working for them in the same position, and I assume she has found more discreet ways to supply her customers with addictive drugs.
