Keeping Fighting Even When The Fight Doesn’t Seem Worth It
I know you’re tired.
I know you’re in a rut right now.
I know you’ve fallen so deep that you can’t feel the sunlight.
I get it. I’ve been there, too.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from being so low, it’s that there’s always room to go even higher. I’ve learned that life is more full of heartbreak than it is of joy, but it’s not about all the heartbreak that determines the worth of your life; it’s how you handle it. It’s what you take away from it. I what you learn from it that truly counts.
In my 20 years of life, I’ve learned a lot of lessons; most of them the hard way. I spent a lot of my life recklessly living for something that I wasn’t even sure existed, but the moment I decided I was going to start living for me and no one else; that was the day my healing truly began. It finally wasn’t just about pleasing the people around me, but rather, making decisions that directly influenced my own happiness. I was finally realizing that I couldn’t make those around me happy if I wasn’t saving a little bit of that for me, too.
So, to the girl who’s given it everything she’s got.
To the girl who’s taken all she can take.
To the girl who’s reached the very end of her rope and it’s thinning fast,
Keep fighting because your fight is worth it.
So often we self limit ourselves. We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for, so wake up and fight. Don’t give up when things get hard. You are so worthy, so able, and so powerful. This is your story to write, and you’re the only one who knows what to say.
So to you, the girl who needs to hear this most: keep your priorities in check. You come first, no matter what. You can’t pour from an empty cup. The people you chose to be around you come next. Nourish those who choose you so they can feel the sunlight too.
Your life is about what you want it to be, so keep fighting. Tell that story.
