Stop Chasing People When You Can Outrun Them Instead
It is so easy to overlook the human being in front of you and fall head-over-heels for the challenge that they present to you.

In modern dating, it is so easy to get caught up in the chase. It is so easy to overlook the human being in front of you and fall head-over-heels for the challenge that they present to you.
When you are still struggling to come to terms with your own worth, their mixed signals can feel like a jackpot. They are a beautiful distraction, so easy to consume yourself with and obsess over. You practically welcome the task of trying to decode how they truly feel about you, just so you don’t have to worry about the problems of actual importance that plague your reality.
You become addicted to reading between the lines when the message that you are searching for might not even exist. You can go through an entire meadow, ripping petals off one-by-one in the process of trying to determine whether they love you or they love you not. Until finally, you look up and realize all it has gotten you is sore fingertips and a field of dead flowers. At some point, you will realize how much time as well as mental and emotional energy you have invested in them with nothing to show for it, and it won’t be fun anymore. At some point, you will find yourself desperately waiting to hear the truth from them.
Stop falling into the toxic cycle of chasing after someone who doesn’t want to be caught. Stop avoiding reality and distracting yourself with delusion. Stop romanticizing disinterest and being strung along by someone who is using you for nothing more than an ego boost.
When you finally accept your own self-worth, you will realize how unsatisfying the hunt and the chase actually are. You are an adult now, and games are for children. Please, stop wasting your time. Stop chasing people when you can outrun them.
It’s time to leave childish things behind.
