This Is Why I Post So Much On Social Media

We shouldn’t be ashamed of feeling beautiful and wanting to share it with our friends and with the world.

I won’t lie to you and say it’s not because of the instant gratification that is “likes,” because that definitely has something to do with it. However, there is a deeper reasoning behind my posting so much on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and even my blog.

I’m well aware that I over post, but I never hear too many complaints. This is either because no one wants to say it to my face (it’s really okay guys) or because of this super secret reason as to why.

I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction. Social media has undoubtedly taken over our lives and consumes a lot of our time. I have taken it upon myself to only post positive, uplifting things and as frequently as possible. This is because I know that what I put out into the universe is what’s going to come back to me.

So yes, I’ll post selfies of myself when I feel beautiful because – aside from the likes and comments – seeing these pictures of myself makes me feel even more beautiful on my worst days.

We shouldn’t be ashamed of feeling beautiful and wanting to share it with our friends and with the world. That’s the vainest of my positive posts, though.

I also post my dog, my friends, where I live, and what I’m doing — and I find that the more I post, the more I enjoy and appreciate the things I’m posting about. It’s sort of backwards isn’t it? Posting is supposed to take away from the current moment, not add to it.

I also really enjoy making people laugh through Snapchat. Sometimes I’m funny, other times not so much. But I’ll take my losses, because at least I’m having fun making them, right?

I’m not suggesting that you should go out and post every detail of your life, because I do think that would take away from overall life quality. However, I am suggesting that social media doesn’t have to be this nasty place of unsolicited advice, negative opinions, and unending competition.

It’s already a huge part of our lives. As much as generations before us scoff at it, it’s not going anywhere.

So maybe 2017 can be the year that you shamelessly post the things that make you happy, and in doing so you might even find that there are so many more things to appreciate in your life!

I’ve met a few people who say they don’t post anything, because they don’t feel like they have anything to post, and that’s just not true. We all have a story. Whether you choose to put it out there for others or not is totally up to you.

I’m just saying there’s no shame in the media game, especially when you’re using it to create an even happier life. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
