Jody Hice is currently a radio show host, Southern Baptist pastor, speaker, and above all, a controversial. This leading Republican candidate doesn’t believe that Islam shouldn’t be protected by the First Amendment.

As reported by MSNBC:

From his book: “Although Islam has a religious component, it is much more than a simple religious ideology, it is a complete geo-political structure and, as such, does not deserve First Amendment protection…”

From a statement he made in 2011: “…Most people think Islam is a religion, it’s not. It’s a totalitarian way of life with a religious component, but it’s much larger. It’s a geo-political system that has governmental, financial, military, legal and religious components. And it’s a totalitarian system that encompasses every aspect of life and it should not be protected…”

Yes, you’ve read that right. Hice believes that Islam isn’t a religion. He also believes that the Muslim Brotherhood is working to infiltrate the United States and brainwash US citizens into accepting Sharia law.

If you think that’s ludicrous, it gets worse.

In 2004, Hice said that women should be able to run for office only if “the woman’s within the authority of her husband.” On homosexuality, Hice has remarked about the “gay agenda” and their intent on “converting” young people to homosexuality.
