This Is What A God-Centered Relationship Feels Like
It's finally finding intimacy through your immense love for God that the world can never understand.
You never actually see it coming. In the past, you’ve been so accustomed to dating the wrong people, some of who were just the most toxic, manipulative and emotionally abusive people you’ve dated. It came to a point where you actually lost hope in finding the kind of relationship you’ve dreamt of your entire Christian life—a relationship with God at its center.
Whether it’s an emotionally abusive and toxic relationship or whether it’s being cheated on, you didn’t deserve what happened to you. As a Christian, it’s natural for us to have such pure and good hearts that the world can take for granted. But you have to realize how difficult it can be to be with someone who doesn’t share the same energy, mindset, and values as you. You can probably date them, but it probably won’t work out without the relationship draining the life out of you until you completely give your soul away.
But after some time, after you’ve been drained to the extend after investing person after person, that’s when the face of hope comes with a possible lover that God gives you. The moment you finally say, “I’m done with falling in love,” somebody comes along and makes you take a leap for the last time in your life.
After you feel like you’re just done with everything, a beautiful stranger comes along, though I don’t mean beautiful in looks. I mean beautiful in just how they portray their God-fearing soul, how they expose their mind to connect with yours, how they choose to be gentle with you in every action and word they say. During that first date, you’ll already feel God’s presence, and that’s how you’re gonna know that history isn’t always going to repeat itself.
You finally get not a worldly relationship but a relationship with Christ at its center. This is more than just labels of being a Christian.
It’s finally finding intimacy through your immense love for God that the world can never understand.
It’s making love through in-depth discussions about Church sermons and the Bible and how your faith makes up more than majority of your soul.
It’s the actual integration of 1 Corinthians 13 in your relationship, no matter how challenging it can be—to always be patient and kind, never to envy, boast or be proud, never to be easily angered and to never keep records of wrongs.
It’s running to God to carry your entire relationship with him as your core foundation.
It’s having found someone who is dating you and pursuing you with only the intent for marriage and marriage alone.
There is just something so breathtakingly magical and pure about falling in love with someone who had just as much conviction with their faith as you do—someone to keep you grounded in your values and morals in life and someone who makes you the best version of yourself. That’s exactly what a God-centered relationship feels like. It’s going to church with them, for the rest of your life, and never having it any other way.
