Happy news for Chuck and Elicia James of Keansburg, NJ after their dog, Reckless, was found in an animal shelter 18 months after Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast in October 2012.

The pit bull mix had escaped their yard after the hurricane and went missing for 18 months.

The couple went to an animal shelter to adopt a new dog to replace Reckless. But the most astounding thing happened to Chuck and his wife.

“The first dog we came up to turned out to be Reckless, our dog,” says Chuck James. “We both teared up like right away… He’s a lot heavier. I didn’t recognize him at first. I was, ‘Hey, that dog looks like Reckless,’ and my wife is like, ‘That dog is Reckless.'”
