If You Get Lost On Your Way To Healing, Remember This

There is no clear-cut path to getting it right, you just have to venture out into the unknown.

Healing is a process, and it can be messy. There is no clear-cut path to getting it right, you just have to venture out into the unknown. It can take a long time to reach a place where you start to feel okay again.

Sometimes you will feel like you’ve backtracked, and on those days you need to remember to be gentle to yourself. There is no such thing as moving backwards when it comes to healing because it’s not a straight line.

Just like in life, healing has its ups and downs. Keep in mind that both are of equal importance in this endeavor. Without the hardest parts of anything, you wouldn’t know to appreciate the parts that are good.

Healing is not a race. Healing is not a competition. Your journey will not be similar to anyone else’s — try not to concern yourself with how others are coming along.

Only you can judge how your heart is progressing, so don’t accept people trying to tell you how you should feel. Every part of this is your experience, do not let anyone make you feel bad for how long it takes, not even yourself.

Remind yourself that, although it can take a long time, there will come a point where you are going to be okay again. You are going to have to learn how to trust the process.

It might not be easy, but I know you have the strength inside of you to get through this. Don’t rush yourself, don’t set expectations for a timeline, just let it happen.

Listen to your heart through all of this. Let yourself feel any and every emotion that gets brought up during this time. Work through the things that scare you, and embrace the things you truly love in this world.

Set aside time to reflect on how you’ve been dealing with your healing, and over time you will be able to see how much you’ve grown.

You need to tend to the garden in your heart. Be patient with it and you’ll reap the benefits for the rest of your life.
