God, I Will Fall In Love In Your Perfect Timing
Despite turning my back countless times along the way, my Father has never left my side. And my worth is found in Him, not someone else.
For so long, all I wanted was to belong to someone. I wanted it so badly that I was willing to settle for lovers who treated me like I was nothing. I got so lost in the appeal of romantic comedies that I forgot my endless value — the value that my Father gave to me.
Despite turning my back countless times along the way, my Father has never left my side. And my worth is found in Him, not someone else. I forgot this on my mission to find my missing half. But another thing I forgot was that I am complete. Christ has made me whole, and I am enough.
In the midst of my romantic realization, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t want to get in a relationship again. Not unless my partner was filled with a hunger to seek God. I decided I would not settle, that I would wait for God to bring the person of my dreams to stand beside me.
If you are a fellow Christ-Follower, you may have heard of Louie Giglio and his series of sermons called Boy Meets Girl (if you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it). For those of you who haven’t watched it or are not as in touch with your Bible as I am, the book of Genesis is basically about the beginning and creation. Giglio focuses on Genesis 2:4 to Genesis 3:24, which is roughly about Adam and Eve.
15: The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
18: The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
21: So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.
22: Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
Giglio’s summary and analysis of these verses are that God made man and gave him a task. Once man had organized his life, he had a sense of purpose and knew the path that lay before him. God brought a woman into his life, and although we are a long way from Genesis, nothing has changed.
So hold onto faith and know that God will bring a Godly man into your life once he has a direction and purpose. Wait. Be patient. I know one day the man of my dreams will come, and so will yours.
