I have been swallowing an unconscious lie, believing that God holds the blessings in my life hostage, fearing that He might take them away in order to teach me something.

This is what I am learning: God’s provision is timely. Of clarity, of wisdom, of resources. Like the Israelites in the desert, we will receive our manna daily, when we need it.

Religion has a bad connotation for a lot of people. Many associate it with a long list of rules, often unexplained and seemingly meaningless. Deviation from these rules results in judgment, both divine and social.

It’s sometimes easy to feel as if God is far away from us, as though He doesn’t hear us when we call. It’s easy to see the suffering around us and wonder where God is.

I remind myself daily that God is in control. He created the world and it is His. He cares about the lilies and the sparrows; He cares about me.
