The moon controls the tides and affects human behavior (just ask a friend who works in an emergency room what happens on the full moon). It has a powerful hold on us that we can use to our advantage. Here’s how the moon will affect your life in June so you can be prepared.

Generally the phases of the moon create different energies that will help you accomplish different goals:

Waning Moon (May 30-June 12): The moon is growing smaller in the sky. A good time to prepare to let go of a relationship or anything else that isn’t working for you. It’s also a good time to begin a new healthy habit.

New Moon (June 13): The moon is black in the sky. A good time for getting rid of things you don’t want, severing relationships, getting over someone, rest, clearing the road so that you can start something new in the next phase.

Waxing Moon (June 14-20): The moon is growing in the sky. A good time to concentrate on the things you want to add to your life: more money, more love, more time for your passion. A good time to begin legal proceedings or try for a baby.

Full Moon (June 27): The moon is full in the sky. A time of abundance and the most powerful phase in the lunar calendar. You can accomplish almost anything during this period, it’s also a good time for celebrating and having gratitude for your recent achievements.

Each month of the year has a special name for the moon, usually based on traditional activities associated with that time. (For instance, the moon in September is traditionally called the harvest moon because that’s a time when people were harvesting their crops). In June, this moon is called the Rose Moon because it is the time when roses are in bloom.

June’s moon can also be called the Strawberry Moon (the perfect time for harvesting strawberries), Honey Moon, Hot Moon, Dyad Moon (a reference to the month of Gemini), Mead Moon, and Thunder Moon.

The names Rose Moon and Strawberry Moon both refer to the short harvest. Now is the time to look around you and see what is ripe!! There are bigger projects and relationships and opportunities we are working on that aren’t quite there, but we can’t look at the forest and walk into the trees. It’s a time to pay attention to your smaller goals and ensure they are on track and being guided along with just as much care as the things that feel so much bigger.

Small goals are how we get to big goals. Take a breath during the full Rose Moon to check in with yourself.

Things you should do when the Rose Moon is full on June 27:

  • Apologize to anyone you’ve had an argument with. Ensure this period is free from arguing and interpersonal drama.
  • Think positive thoughts.
  • Check in with your progress on your smaller goals.
  • Begin a new habit if you’ve been procrastinating.
  • Make a list of things you are grateful for.
  • Make a list of things you would like to see in your life.

Next month in July the full moon will be the Wort Moon — a time for preparation for the year ahead. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
