“Bert and Ernie’s Moment of Joy” is the upcoming cover of The New Yorker as the magazine celebrates the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage. Jack Hunter, the artist who made the cover, said, “this is great for our kids, a moment we can all celebrate.”
Long speculated to be a gay couple, Bert and Ernie have given us so much when we were growing up, of course this image of them witnessing a historic moment is moving. Puppets or not, these are our people.
