I miss the way she'd hug me when I was upset and not let go until she knew I was ready.

When I lost my mom a few years ago, I lost so much. It was more than just losing a mom. It was losing my best friend, my cheerleader, and my biggest fan all in one.

Nobody in this world could take her place. Not even close.

1. I miss her hugs.

I miss the way being in my mom’s arms could take away the pain of whatever I was going though. I miss the way she’d hug me when I was upset and not let go until she knew I was ready.

2. I miss her guidance.

My mom always knew what to say. No matter the situation, no matter what I was going through, she knew how to make it better.

3. I miss her comfort.

Having my mom be a phone call away for whatever I needed was a luxury that I took for granted. Having her to lie with in bed when I needed a break from life was a privilege that I took too lightly.

4. I miss her voice.

Voicemails just don’t do justice. I would do anything to hear her call my name again.

5. I miss the names she had for me.

She would always come up with a new cute nickname for me, no matter how old I got.

6. I miss her smell.

The smell of my mom was home. I still recognize it. One of my biggest fears is the thought that I could forget it.

7. I miss her friendship.

Not a person in this world could and will ever compare to my mom. She was the best friend that I will ever have. She was my secret keeper and my favorite person to gossip with. She was everything a friend should be, plus more.

And I will continue to miss her every day. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
