Who Is Scott Swift? Taylor Swift’s Dad Who Handles Her Money and Built the Prenup for Her Marriage to Travis Kelce

A source says Scott Swift, not Travis Kelce, is the only person Taylor trusts with her money, and he’s the one who put together the couple’s prenup ahead of their wedding this year.

Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice reported that the 74-year-old has “protected” his daughter her entire life, especially while she built her career. “He’s always there, but never in the spotlight,” the source said, crediting him with helping her become the biggest star in the world.

Scott has been in finance for more than 45 years. He joined Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor in 1980 and now runs The Swift Group, a Merrill Lynch Wealth Management advisory team based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania that reportedly manages around $3.9 billion in client assets. He’s a managing director and senior relationship manager there, and finance runs in the family: his father and grandfather worked in the business, and he bought his first stock as a kid with money from his lawn-mowing route.

Born in Pennsylvania in 1952, he graduated from the University of Delaware in 1974 and married Andrea Finlay in 1988. The family lived on a 15-acre Christmas tree farm outside Wyomissing before Scott transferred his Merrill Lynch office to Nashville in 2003 and moved everyone to Hendersonville, Tennessee so 14-year-old Taylor could chase a music career.

He also bet on it financially. In January 2006, Scott put about $500,000 into Big Machine Records, the label Scott Borchetta was building around Taylor, for a minority stake. When Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings bought Big Machine in 2019 for more than $300 million, Scott’s payout came in around $15.1 million.

Charming in person, he reportedly gets “sharper” when it comes to Taylor’s business interests. With nearly $2 billion in combined assets between her and Kelce, an insider framed the prenup as “smart business,” not a sign of mistrust.

Kelce reportedly has no problem with any of it. “Taylor has romance in her heart, and Scott has business in his head,” another source said.
