Erling Haaland Built One of the Most Serious Birkin Collections in Sports While Carrying Norway to the World Cup
Erling Haaland came to the World Cup to make history with Norway. He’s doing that. But he’s also quietly building one of the most spectacular Birkin collections out there.

The 25-year-old Manchester City striker scored 16 goals in just 8 qualifiers to carry Norway to its first World Cup since 1998, and he’s already through to the Round of 32 in North America, where Norway faces Ivory Coast. At 6’5″, he’s a two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, a Champions League winner, and a central figure in City’s 2023 treble. Celebrity Net Worth puts him at $100 million as of June 2026, and Forbes lists him among the highest-paid athletes in the world, with roughly $80 million in annual earnings between his Manchester City contract (reported in the $33 to $60 million range) and his Puma deal.
He’s also quietly built one of the most serious Birkin collections of any athlete. Almost nobody clocked it until stylist Jack Savoie dug through years of Instagram and paparazzi photos and cataloged the whole thing: well over $300,000 in bags, including a limited-edition Endless Road HAC Birkin 50, a Togo leather Birkin 50, a checked H Togo HAC Casaque Birkin 40, and a cargo-style Evercalf Toile Birkin 40, several worth $45,000 to $57,000 apiece. The detail that broke everyone’s brain was a smaller Box Birkin tucked inside a larger one.

The bigger number came from his personal spending. Last year, he reportedly bought an ultra-rare Hermès Himalaya Birkin for his longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, for around $435,000. The Himalaya is one of the most coveted Birkins in existence, often featuring pale Niloticus crocodile leather and diamond hardware. It’s not a bag anyone walks into a store and buys.
Johansen is from Bryne, the small Norwegian town where Haaland started playing football at 5. She was a real player herself, debuting for Bryne FK’s senior women’s team at 13 and scoring 23 goals in 36 matches before stepping away around the pandemic. The two knew each other from the academy, but it was Johansen who reached out first as a teenager. They started dating around 2021 and welcomed a son in December 2024. They’ve never publicly shared his name or face, and Haaland has been militant about keeping him out of the spotlight, crediting fatherhood with sharpening his focus.

Birkins are gatekept by design. Created in 1984 and named after actress Jane Birkin, each one is handmade in France and can take around 48 hours of skilled labor. There’s no real public waiting list. Acquiring a rare model typically requires significant prior spending with Hermès and a cultivated relationship with a specific sales associate, which makes a collection this deep, assembled in his mid-20s, harder to pull off than most of his goals.
He’s never positioned himself as a fashion guy. He doesn’t post outfit grids or chase street-style photographers. The kid from Bryne who started playing at 5 just happens to own one of the most serious Birkin shelves in sports, and he’d rather you talked about the goals.
