Love is a very dangerous thing.

It changes you, makes you do things you never do, and fabricates illusive thoughts that you somehow want to become true. They say love is intoxicating. It makes you go crazy and out of control, it makes you irrational and impulsive, and it takes you to a different level of euphoria.

It’s true; especially when the love you give is reciprocated by the one you love, when you both feel the same way and when you deeply and truly love each other.

When you love someone, you accept them for who they are, the good and bad, their assets, and their flaws. You stay with them through thick and thin, through triumphs and failures. You love them when they’re unlovable and you stay faithful even when they’re far away.

In love, there are no “buts.” You don’t think, you just do. You do everything to make them happy, even when sometimes you go out of your way to do it.

There are times when you get hurt as well, it’s inevitable. Love and pain always come hand in hand, but don’t get dismayed, because hardships in relationships can make the foundation stronger, and all this pain will be nothing if you’re doing it for the right person. You can endure it all, smile, and say, “It’s okay,” and forget about it the next day as if nothing happened.

Foolish, huh? Well, that’s what love does to us, but all this idiocy is nothing, if we’re doing it for someone who’s also down for us, who’s also willing to do the same things we’d do for them, who’s going to face all the trials with us, and someone who’s worthy of our trust and love.

And in this world full of hate, deception, and melancholy, love is the only thing that can save us. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
