9 Things You Need To Know If You’re Trying To Find Yourself
I want you to know that the world is looking for you the same way you’re looking for yourself.
1. If you’re in pursuit of finding yourself, this insinuates that you’re lost. Here’s your good news: You’re not.
2. In Return to Love, Marianne Williamson wrote: “When Michelangelo was asked how he created a piece of sculpture, he answered that the statue already existed within the marble. God himself had created the Pieta, David, Moses. Michelangelo’s job, as he saw it, was to get rid of the excess marble that surrounded God’s creation. So it is with you. The perfect you isn’t something you need to create, because God already created it. The perfect you is the love within you.”
3. Explore new places and spaces, because so much beauty exists in the world. Perhaps if you feel lost, you’re looking for an experience that you haven’t had yet. Travel. Stretch your boundaries in the face of your comfort zone. There are feelings you haven’t felt yet. Experiences you haven’t had yet. People you haven’t met yet. Take time to bloom and bask in the unknown. There is discovery and freedom awaiting you there.
4. We place so much pressure on ourselves and others to find purpose. When we’re young we spend our time living, but as we grow older, we become obsessed with understanding what it means to live. Instead of trying to find yourself, take some time to simply be yourself. Accept this moment and trust that you are exactly who you should be. In that knowledge you will find what you’re looking for.
5. George Bernard Shaw wrote, “This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.”
6. I want you to know that the world is looking for you the same way you’re looking for yourself.
7. I really want you to know that if you trust and accept who you are in this moment; the transformation you’re seeking will make way for itself
8. The world needs you now more than ever.
9. So if you’re busy spending your life finding yourself, hiding, molding yourself into a perfect picture, we’ll never get a chance to experience the magic you have to offer right now.
