If we only wrote for the people who comment at the end of our articles we’d be empty.

It can be mind blowing, life altering, and definitely much needed, but let’s #realtalk right now – it can also straight up suck and here’s why.

And now at 24 I realize the importance of fixing that relationship with my dad so that I can better foster healthy relationships with my potential husband and hopefully, one day, father of my children — one of which could be a little girl just like me, whose only daddy issue is, I hope, that she loves him too much.

We get it: have furniture not by Ikea, dress nicely, travel, and know who you are, as if none of these things had ever dawned on us before. I

I feel so ungrateful for throwing this thing we had away. The adventures, the road trips, the holiday memories, it all gets filed into some part of my brain designated for you, in the past but not the future.

I’m not saying these things weren’t attractive to you before, but they’ve definitely been bumped to the top of your list now that you’re becoming a more fully formed adult human being.
