He Left You, But You Have To Be Strong
God & Man

It’s late at night and you’re wide awake. You’re lying in bed and you can’t stop the tears from flowing down to your face. I know it’s hard. I know it’s too painful and you can’t do anything about it. You have a lot of questions in your head and you’re finding it difficult to get the answers. What did you do wrong? Why has everything changed in a snap?

There might be lots of things you wish you knew. Things that you could have done differently or better in order to make that person stay, but I guess it’s too late. You wanted to work things out, but he didn’t even try. He just left. That’s the end of your story. It’s over now.

And yes, it’s okay to cry about it until you’re all cried out. You know what they say: Pain demands to be felt. It’s normal to feel like everything’s falling apart because you lose someone in your life. You lose the person you used to see every day. You lose the person who used to cheer you up when you’re feeling down, who’s always been there for you and promised to stay no matter how hard the situation got. But do you know what hurts more? The fact that you lose that special person you thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with.

It’s not easy to perceive all these things for now, but I hope you don’t blame yourself. Just because someone left you doesn’t mean it’s your fault. People come and go, whether we like it or not—that’s our sad reality. That’s how life works.

I hope you don’t hold grudges. Acceptance takes time, and while you’re in the process of it, don’t let the pain consume you and plant hatred in your heart. Do this for yourself and for your own good. Help yourself to see and reminisce about the good memories you have shared with that person instead of feeding the angst inside you.

Allow yourself to heal. Let yourself rest and let him go. Some are meant to stay, but some enter our lives temporarily for a purpose, and the only person who knows it is the Man up there. The Man who has greater plans for you.

God knows your pain, and He hears your prayers, so be still. He will let you understand one day why it didn’t end well with the person you wish you have kept. For now, you need to be strong and trust His plans.

I know you did everything to make it last for the both of you. I know you sacrificed a lot, and I know you loved so much. You have given the purest and deepest kind of love. But some doors are meant to be shut. With this kind of pain you are feeling right now, I hope you don’t surrender your ability to love and be loved again.

Remember that love comes in pain, and I hope your faith in it will still remain. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
