We are in 2017 already. This is no time to start living in the past. It is time to take the future you deserve and be more accountable for your actions. If you have been trudging on a path that is getting you nowhere all this while, it is time to make a difference with your actions. And now is the best time to stop doing certain things that are not helping you gain results. Here are 10 things you should stop doing in 2017.

1. Fearing failure

Life is all about trying. You will fail most times. But the times you succeed will count and make everything seem special. So whether in your relationship, career or education you should learn to embrace failure and see it as the ladder you need to climb to attain success.

2. Staying in your comfort zone

It is time for you to travel and get out of your comfort zone. Go to someplace new, whether for business or for pleasure. There is nothing as being safe or playing from only a particular spot in the field. You have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and embrace the unknown. There will be challenges but it is worth it when want to see the fun part of life.

3. Hanging around negative people

It is not so difficult identifying a negative person. Negative people are toxic and only dwell on problems rather than solutions. You are not really going to achieve much when you listen or hang around negative people. They really do not have anything to offer except doubts and retrogression.

4. Making excuses

If you want to do something, do it. Go out there and get the life you want and stop making excuses. Time used in making excuses can sap your energy and make you see the hole rather than the doughnut.

5. Comparing yourself to others

You will get stuck doing this. Because we are all unique and distinct in our different ways. We all have our individual journeys to undertake. So stop comparing yourself to others and focus on becoming a better version of yourself.

6. Complaining about things out of your control

There is nothing you can do about a situation that is out of your control. Of course you can’t affect the weather or the hunger that devastates in third world countries, but you can take charge of your life and look for ways to influence your immediate environment positively.

7. Stop trying to be perfect

Trust me, you need a good laugh. And how can you attain that when every time you are trying to be perfect and lose the fun in the process. There is fun in learning and making mistakes. You can’t afford to take yourself too seriously if you want to succeed.

8. Stop tolerating mediocrity

It is so easy to want to settle with mediocrity. But successful people are always looking for ways to become better version of themselves. They focus on excellence and are always committing to that extra mile or effort.

9. Stop being indecisive

Quick and smart decisions could be what hold you back from being successful and happy. Instead of getting something done, you always dilly-dally. You can’t afford to always be hesitant. It is time to start making smart decisions.

10. Start being ungrateful

You have to learn to be thankful about those things you have. This way you can establish contentment and happiness in your life. Gratitude serves as a compass and a direction for getting everything you want.
