While 2018 has been a bumpy ride for Ariana Grande, it’s definitely been a great year for her image. The pop star has more adoring fans than ever, thanks to her snappy social media presence and an onslaught of great music she’s recently released, and has rightfully taken her place as a cultural icon.

So really, it’s no surprise that someone thought making a YouTube series about the behind the scenes of her life was a good idea, especially with all the drama that’s gone on this past year and a half. From the Manchester bombing to her whirlwind engagement to the premature death of her ex-boyfriend of two years, Ariana’s ended up in the news cycle a lot more than she — or her fans — ever anticipated.

The series, called Dangerous Woman Diaries, premiered today, and is a four-part documentary that starts off 18 months ago, when Grande’s “Sweetener” album was first conceived. A new episode will be released every Thursday, though YouTube Premium members can watch the whole thing now. And the first episode is already giving fans a lot to talk about, including the ideas behind her music videos and what inspired the album.

Say whatever you want about Ariana Grande, but I think we can all agree on one thing: she’s come a long, long way from where she started. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
