Kim Kardashian will be visiting the White House today, but her Trump-loving husband won’t be coming with her. Because Kim Kardashian West isn’t there for leisure — she has an agenda to attend to.

Kardashian set up a meeting with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to lobby for the pardon of Alice Johnson, a woman in her sixties who is serving a life sentence in prison for her first non-violent drug offense from two decades ago. She even chose Johnson’s birthday to meet with the president and his men.

Of course, this meeting isn’t coming out of nowhere. Kardashian has been advocating for Johnson for a while now, even sharing an online petition to grant clemency for her after 21 years behind bars.

Kardashian is taking this meeting very seriously, according to Vanity Fair. She’s not bringing her Keeping Up with the Kardashians camera crew, her publicists or her sisters, instead opting to keep the meeting between those who can actually enact change. In fact, Kardashian reached out to Kushner personally to set up the meeting, as he has been promoting prison reform for the past year, even passing a bill to better the education offered in prisons to make inmates better equipped for the outside world. After all, Kushner has his own personal connection to prison reform — his father once served two years in prison.

You can say what you want about Kim Kardashian, but good for her for using her position of power to try to try to make a difference in the world. You can make fun of her literacy and her understanding of the history behind prison reform, but that doesn’t mean she’s still not taking the steps she believes are best to create positive change.
