It’s officially been one year since the horrific bombing took the lives of 23 people attending an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England. Since then, the singer has paid tribute to the victims many times, most evidently when she put on a benefit concert entitled “One Love Manchester,” and again today, on the one-year anniversary of the tragedy.

Grande took to Twitter to address her fans with love and empathy.

Earlier this month, Grande told Time that she was doing her best to cope with the tragedy in the most positive way possible to show her fans that evil hadn’t won. “I don’t want to give it that much power,” she said. “Something so negative. It’s the absolute worst of humanity. That’s why I did my best to react the way I did. The last thing I would ever want is for my fans to see something like that happen and think it won.”

But Grande isn’t the only one who’s paying tribute to the lives lost on this tragic day. Both Prince William and Prime Minister Teresa May joined the family of victims at a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral. At the beginning of the service, the Very Reverend Rogers Govender said everyone must “come together as people of different faiths and none” to remember the lives lost in the attack.

Others still took to social media to remember their loved ones lost, like Dan Hett, who lost his younger brother in the attack.

It’s a tragic day, but like Grande, we must remember: evil did not win. To this day, the good in the world persists. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
