1. “Thank you for your unrivaled support and for always keeping it real.”

Too many people prefer gentle lies to hard truths – and in the end it is better to be hurt by the truth than comforted by a lie. You always keep it real, even when it’s something I don’t want to hear. And at the end of the day, even if I don’t listen? You always have my back.

2. “Thank you for your bravery.”

Standing up for others makes you one courageous individual, but making sure people get the respect they deserve makes you one-of-a-kind. You’ve taught me that being brave doesn’t always mean being tough – and that sometimes vulnerability inspires courage.

3. “Thank you for fun and laughter.”

Whether we’re sipping mugs of hot tea in our favorite coffee shop, out exploring the city, or driving in your car, we always find reasons to laugh when we’re together. You push me to try new things and get out of my comfort zone – you simply make my life brighter, just by being in it.

4. “Thank you for your warmth and kindness.”

Your heart is so open to everyone you meet and I have never seen a better example of hospitality, care and love. You always make sure that others feel seen and loved. You’ve taught me that when you treat people you care about with love – you learn that you’re lovable too.

5. “Thank you for your loyalty.”

We used to scribble cliché quotes in the margins of our notebooks – “True friends are never apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart.” You have proved this to me over and over, as I have moved and relocated, and you followed your heart to another city, another state. Time and distance may separate us, but I know I can always count on you when I need something.

6. “Thank you for your wisdom.”

Some of us can hear the advice of others and take it face value. Some of us need to learn from our own lived experiences. I count myself among the latter, but even still, you have always been willing to offer guidance or thoughtful counsel. And when I listen, I appreciate it more still.

7. “Thank you for your positivity.”

Your peppy, can-do attitude has lifted my spirits time and time again. You have pushed me to pick myself up and try again, to take risks. Your optimistic outlook has made me feel more appreciated, and makes me appreciate you all the more.

8. “Thank you for accepting me, and encouraging me to be better.”

A best friend truly knows you and loves you just the same – yet recognizes where you have room to grow. You have always encouraged me to be myself. You’ve reminded me over and over again that I don’t need to change for others to like me. You believe in my ability to be better, and have inspired me to be more than who I am at the start of my day.

9. “Thank you for your strength.”

You have taught me that in the face of adversity we can choose how we respond. You’ve challenged me to change my perspective, to do my part, and to trust that God will take care of the rest.

10. “Thank you for making ordinary moments, extraordinary.”

Sometimes, the most ordinary things can be transformed into extraordinary things – just by surrounding yourself with the right people. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
