Traveling Is The Only Way To Become The Best Version Of Yourself

I thrive on new experiences, as often as possible. I thrive off of new conversations and new faces. I thrive off of doing things that scare the life out of me and change me for the better and make me feel a little more alive.

I want to travel the world; I think it is an important part of life. To immerse yourself in different culture and see the way others live. Let the world challenge you and change you. Let it break you out of your comfort zone you’ve been living in for 20, or 30, or even 70-something years.

There are people that do know exactly what they want to do before they even get to college and those who figure it out there — which is completely awesome for those people — but I am not one of them. I am more directed now with what I want to do than when I got to college, but I still can’t picture myself in any job that would end with me living a monotonous lifestyle. I can’t picture sitting in rush hour traffic, pulling into the same parking spot every day, and walking down the same hallways to have the same repetitive conversations everyday.

The thought of being thrown into a career I’m not ready for yet scares the hell out of me. I don’t think I’m ready for an office setting and I don’t want to be in one even if I did feel ready.

That just isn’t the kind of person I am.

I thrive on new experiences, as often as possible. I thrive off of new conversations and new faces. I thrive off of doing things that scare the life out of me and change me for the better and make me feel a little more alive. Like jumping out of an airplane for the first time or riding the worlds highest roller coaster.

I want to travel as much as I can, for as long as I can. I want to explore everything life has to offer. I want to constantly live out of my comfort zone and figure out exactly who I am and where I’m supposed to be. I’m a firm believer if you’re in a good place before you leave, that your journey can help guide you in life.

I don’t want to live a life filled with regret from the things I didn’t get to do. Of all the fears in the world, nothing scares me as much as not living. I don’t want to live forever; I just want to live fully. I don’t want to be so consumed in making a living that I fail to make a life full of memories.

With traveling the possibilities are endless. There are so many incredible opportunities out there if we just took the leap and went for it. I have read travel blog after travel blog and no one has ever written, “I regret traveling, I wish I didn’t experience everything I did.” It just doesn’t happen. The world has so much to offer and I want to take advantage of it, I think everyone should.

Hearing stories of others and scrolling through Instagram pictures and blog posts inspires me more and more every day.

I want to make memories in as many countries as I can. I want to keep moving and keep discovering new places. I want to see things I could never dream up and immerse myself in new cultures. I want to live out of a backpack. I want to rid the items that have no value to me, but I keep ‘just in case.’ I want to help change the world and build houses for those who don’t have one. I want to volunteer at orphanages and help take care of street dogs. I want to travel from place to place and leave my mark. I want to do for the world and the world is doing for me.

Ultimately, I want to be the girl who never settles on anything. I want to be the best version of myself I can be and I believe traveling is the way to do it.

Work will come eventually for me, but I believe experience is far more valuable than money will ever be. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
