Why I Still Believe In Magic

Because kindness runs rampant, still, despite hatred.

By

Because every touch, every kiss, every hand held holds electricity.
Because when it snows, the whole city landscape turns quiet and watchful.
Because the sun still rises every morning and conquers the sky.

Because babies are born into the world everyday, new, hopeful, and innocent.
Because the ocean never ceases. Because I have fallen in and out of love and it has all been beautiful. Because each road holds the key to a new destination.

Because the smell of an old book, the warmth of an old bookstore, the feel of crisp pages between your fingers. Because artists still pour their souls into creation.

Because grass grows back over and over after each frost.

Because when we are not with the people we love, we miss them profoundly. Because there are people who love us. Because there are people we love. Because open hearts and open arms. Because I believe that everyone belongs.

Because kindness runs rampant, still, despite hatred.

Because when I open my eyes, I see your face. Because when I tickle my sister, she giggles wildly. Because family can be created anywhere, with anyone.

Because two strangers can lock eyes and just know there will be brilliance between them.

Because the last ringing notes of a triumphant song. Because the moon and all its shimmering majesty. Because poetry is still being written. Because joy. Because laughter. Because generosity. Because graciousness. Because faith.

Because we are always knocking down walls, knocking down barriers.
Because we are always trying to build bridges to each other.

Because this life is worth sharing. Because this life is worth living.

Because no matter how empty my pockets, my heart will always have more than enough.

It is hard but it is not, has never been, impossible. I still believe.

In my heart, I know that everything- every molecule, every drop of rain, every moment, is magic.

You just have to look a little closer. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
