Why The Secret To Living Your Best Life Is Living Intuitively
What has become clear to me over the last year is that we have more control over our life than we think we do. Not about what happens to us (that one is random and crazy), but what we do with it.
Do you want to know how you can truly feel at peace? Have you been reading countless self-help books in search of the answer to the eternal question: how can I finally be happy? I’ve found the answer. And I’m about to share it with you.
Over the past year a shift has been happening in my life, slowly yet profound. I’ve been transitioning to intuitive living. What that means, to me, is that I’m increasingly doing what feels right to me, instead of following advice or recommendations from others. Over the past year I’ve had more time to myself than some people have in a lifetime, and I’ve spent it resting, reflecting, and thinking. A lot. I’ve been thinking about life in general and ours in particular; I’ve been thinking about joy, and happiness, and about slow living. I’ve been practicing gratitude every single day, which is seriously the most life-improving habit you could ever adopt. It’s a total game changer! I can’t recommend it enough.
I’ve been thinking about what it all means. Brianna Madia, whose Instagram account is one of the brightest spots in social media and who sees the world in such a beautiful way, shared this about the meaning of life: “I don’t think there is one. I don’t see the birds and coyotes and cacti running all over panicking about the meaning of their existence, they just exist. We’re here. We might as well enjoy it and stop worrying so much about what, if anything, it all means.” What a liberating thought! Have we been over-complicating it all this time? Probably. It seems like something we would do.
What has become clear to me over the last year is that we have more control over our life than we think we do. Not about what happens to us (that one is random and crazy), but what we do with it.
I’ve been looking at everything that has happened in my almost 40 years on this earth, and I’ve come to this conclusion: every misstep, every mistake, every failure make sense now. Every heartbreak and pain and suffering have been worth it. I’m intensely grateful for this gorgeous, imperfect, wild life I have.
I have learnt a few things along the way, but the most important and life-changing one, the one I would love for all of you to take to heart and run with, is this:
You can trust yourself.
You have more wisdom inside yourself than you give yourself credit for. Deep inside you, you know what’s right for you. You know what makes you happy. You already know what to do. The tricky part is to a) uncover it, and b) learn to trust it.
To find out who you really are, you have to go inward. No self-help book can help you with that, and no other person can. Only you know what’s best for you, but the answer is hidden deep inside you. It’s in the place that some call their gut, or their soul, or their intuition. The more you trust and follow it, the more you will feel at peace. You will start to live your life true to you, and that’s when everything is starting to make sense. You will feel like you are in the right place at the right time. FOMO will cease to exist. Envy will become extinct in your life. You will be able to truly feel happy for other people’s fortunes without wanting some of it for yourself, because you have everything you want.
All this is waiting for you. It can be yours if you want it. But in order to get it you have to be brave. You will have to be vulnerable and face your demons. You will have to look at yourself the way you are, flaws and fears and ugly sides and all, and embrace the whole you. Only when you have done that, when you have accepted yourself the way you truly are, will you be free to love yourself.
You will be free to live the life of your dreams, and it will be wilder and better than you ever thought possible.
