Maybe You Need To Look Again
Maybe the things that you think are broken within you are just the things that serve your purpose and make you flourish.
Maybe the things that you think are broken within you are just the things that serve your purpose and make you flourish.
Look at the scars on your heart. Trace their lines, their curves, their depth. For so long you thought that they were little anchors that have weighed you down, little pieces of glass that kept you from moving, for if you did, they’d pinch you until you could not breathe.
Now look again.
Can’t you see that they aren’t anchors, they aren’t glass, and they aren’t fragmentations of what you once were, but rather points of beauty? Points of learning, of loving, of living?
The scars upon your heart aren’t there to ground you, they are there to teach you how to live. They aren’t your definition, just a part of your story.
Look at the things you think you’re bad at. Have you been told you feel too deeply? To strongly? Too much? Have you clung to the notion that you are “too sensitive” and let that define your actions, your choices, your days, your years?
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, why? Why are all these things bad? Where did I get that idea from? Or better yet, that maybe, just maybe, the mindset is what’s wrong?
Maybe you do feel more deeply than others. Maybe your emotions are strong and can hit like a gust of wind. Maybe you are a sensitive soul, and that sensitivity has guided your actions, your choices, and your days and your years — and maybe it’s not about the fact that it has been the guiding point, but maybe it’s about how it’s been the guiding point.
Maybe it’s about understanding that your sensitivity isn’t a flaw, for it can serve you and your communities. Maybe that sensitivity can be channeled into a field where you can help others and use your sensitivity as a tool for healing, for hope, and for understanding.
Maybe the things that you think are broken within you are just the things that serve your purpose and make you flourish.
Maybe you just need to look at them again.
