Demi Lovato’s Family Claims People Are Spreading False Info About Her Overdose
The singer, who struggled with substance abuse in her teens, had been sober for six years before admitting recently in a song that she had relapsed.
Yesterday afternoon, singer Demi Lovato was reportedly rushed to the hospital due to an apparent heroin overdose. The singer, who struggled with substance abuse in her teens, had been sober for six years before admitting recently in a song that she had relapsed.
While news of Lovato’s overdose immediately flooded the news, her parents issued a statement assuring people that Demi’s condition is stable, and that people shouldn’t believe everything they hear:
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and [Lovato’s family members] respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
What’s incorrect, I wonder? That she had overdosed on heroin specifically? Apparently one source told TMZ that Lovato had been taking opioids and was treated with Narcan, which reverses the effects of narcotics.
No matter what Lovato had taken, it’s clear that she has quite the support system standing behind her, with an outpouring of love shown on the Internet from both fans and friends alike.
Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi. All of us love her and need to pray for her to get well. She is a fighter. #prayfordemi
