ABC Officially Cancels ‘Roseanne’ Because Of This Racist Tweet From The Show’s Star
The 'Roseanne' reboot that was once one of the most anticipated shows of 2018 is officially no more.
The ‘Roseanne’ reboot that was once one of the most anticipated shows of 2018 is officially no more. ABC has officially cancelled the show after Roseanne Barr, the series’s star, tweeted a racist jab about former Obama Valerie Jarrett.
In the tweet, Barr said Jarrett, who is African-American and born in Iran, looks as though the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.” Barr also tweeted that Chelsea Clinton, Bill and Hilary’s daughter, was connected to George Soros.
It didn’t take long for the shit show to start. After the backlash Barr received for her comments, she claimed she was “leaving Twitter,” though she didn’t give a time frame for her hiatus.
Hours later, Wanda Sykes, the reboot’s consulting producer, tweeted that she would no longer be working with the show.

The drama eventually escalated to one sweet and simple statement from ABC Entertainment: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

Wow, what a whirlwind of a day. Still, I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Even some of the show’s source material was met with controversy, especially those concerning immigrants and race. You’ve got to remember that, at the end of the day, many of the show’s views were Roseanne Barr’s. I guess it was only a matter of time that the whole thing blew up.
